Natarajan Kannan Named Distinguished Research Professor

Dr. Natarajan Kannan, Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and a member of the Institute of Bioinformatics, has been named a university Distinguished Research Professor. This honor is given to senior faculty members who are internationally recognized and who are working at the very top of their discipline. Dr. Kannan is a leader in molecular evolution, computational biology, and protein bioinformatics. His research has transformed the understanding of how complex signaling systems evolve at the molecular level. He has produced ground-breaking research by combining computational and experimental approaches, and his work has led to more than 100 peer-reviewed publications. He has secured $10 million research funding.
